FAQs

You Ask - We Answer

Do I need a Private Investigator?

It is always best to hire a Licensed Private Investigator when you are needing proof, evidence or a process server. When needing evidence for court, a report from C & C Investigations will be admissible in court, as presented, to support your claim.

How much does an investigation cost?

Investigative costs are calculated after determining the factors of the investigation. These factors include the type of investigation, tasks of the investigator to obtain the evidence needed, the location of the investigation and the activity of the subject being investigated. There is no need to pay for aspects of an investigation that may not be needed or helpful to your case. C & C Investigations offers a free confidential, consultation to evaluate your case and will quote your cost based on your investigative needs.

Why do I need to hire a private investigator instead of doing it myself or asking a friend to help?

In the state of South Carolina, investigative activities can only be conducted by a SLED licensed investigator for the evidence obtained to be admissible in court. Hiring a licensed investigator ensures your case is worked without bias and the evidence is true and authenticated versus the emotional connection one has by doing the surveillance themself or having a friend assist. A licensed investigator also knows what evidence is needed to support your case in court, has the resources and equipment needed to obtain the required evidence and how to legally present the evidence to be admissible in court.

What information do I need to provide to the private investigator?

The information a client needs to give to the investigator is determined by the type of investigation and objective to be investigated. Any and all information pertinent to the investigation should be given up front or as obtained during the investigation. The more information you provide the investigator, the better chance the investigator has to determine how to approach your case. This is why we offer a free consultation so we can advise our client what information is needed to begin their investigation.

Will I be kept informed of the ongoing investigation?

Absolutely! Our clients are the biggest part of our investigation. C & C actually requires our clients be available during times of surveillance should questions arise or if authorization is required to move forward. Our investigators give regular updates with the case progress, as determined when the case is being worked. We understand when the need arises to hire a PI Firm, it is normally a stressful time or situation. Regular communication throughout the investigation ensures our client has the information needed to make the next steps in their process.

Why do I have to sign an investigative contract?

Private Investigation is a professional business and the contract protects the client as well as the agency. It outlines the type of investigation to be conducted as well as the rates for specific services. This ensures there are no surprise charges at the conclusion of the investigation as all charges are outlined before the investigation begins. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) also requires a signed contract for every investigation.

How confidential is the consultation and is it really free?

All consultations, as well as the investigations, are absolutely confidential, even if C & C Investigations is not retained for the investigation. The consultation addresses the current issues you are facing and what is necessary to obtain the evidence needed so you can confidently make the next decision on what course of action to take. Our consultations are always free of charge. Not all situations require an investigation and you should never be pressured into hiring a Private Investigator. If your case is not going to benefit from an investigation then there is no need to have an investigation conducted or incur the expense of an investigation. This is the primary reason C & C Investigations has free consultations.
